Such good food. A bit pricey for what we expected from a diner ($17 for a California chicken burger, for instance), but the portions were very large. If you are not feeding a teenager, you could probably get two meals with the leftovers. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and we will definitely go back. The salmon Benedict was an unexpected treat.

Place is fire. The Kippered Salmon lox were amazing. The salmon was perfectly smoked. It was packed with flavor and flaky to the bite. I’ve never had had scrapple before. It is amazing. I could put it in my pocket and take bites of it through the day. Sooooo darn good. Solid home made cheese cake. Nom nom

If you're looking for a basic breakfast experience, in the classic Jewish deli style, you'll be happy. Nothing will blow your mind, but you'll leave satisfied. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict, my wife ordered the loaded Latkes. I think the latkes were better. Nothing bad about the Benedict, but nothing special either. Honestly, they could at least sprinkle some chives or parsley on top. Right now, it's sort of an under-seasoned hollandaise...desperately searching for more salt and maybe some vinegar or hot sauce. I added a lot of Tobasco, and a generous shower of salt to the whole plate, especially the bland and barely crispy home fries. But the smoked salmon is super fresh and they serve a generous portion. Eggs were perfectly poached. The latkes are good, but more like a crispy Spanish tortilla-basically a mini potato frittata crispy-fried. It was thick, dense and eggy, not the way my grandmother would've made them. No super crunchy and lacy edges. But they cover the whole thing with a chopped Nova lox and red onion relish; that part is delicious. Worst part was the coffee. Bland and watery. Best part was the lox: salty, fresh, and a bouyant mouth-feel. The service is classic diner/deli: treat them well and they'll return it. A no-frills breakfast. Don't expect too much and you'll be happy.

I go here with friends after a weekly meeting. The food is decent, the service is awful. We often have to get someone's attention to ask for silverware, sometimes even after getting our food. Refills are rare. When we are ready to go it's often a problem to get our check.

I did take out for a friend and I. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good and had a down home friendly feel. I ordered the Reuben and the Rachel and both were excellent. The chips were homemade but a little soggy by the time I get them home. The side of potato salad was excellent. Will definitely go back.

OMG. The food here was so good. And the portions were amazing! We totally stumbled on this place, we were hungry and just saw the sign and pulled in. The outside is nothing to speak of, but then we went in and it was packed! Always a good sign. I guess locals know how good and authentic the food is, but I'm here to tell all you travelers that is definitely worth seeking out. If you are looking for authentic Jewish favorites you will find them! I had the loaded latkes (picture) and couldn't finish although it was so good! My husband had a western omelette (picture). Atmosphere is nothing fancy, but it was clean.

Introducing "Knishes and Dishes": A Delightful Culinary Adventure in Lafayette Hill!

Located in the heart of Lafayette Hill at 545-547 Germantown Pike, Knishes and Dishes captures the essence of a traditional Jewish deli, offering a unique blend of comfort and culinary creativity. With a cozy and inviting atmosphere, it's the perfect spot for anyone looking to indulge in hearty, flavorful dishes that echo the comforting simplicity of home-cooked meals.

The menu is highlighted by a variety of delicious offerings, from the creamy and satisfying Kippered Salmon Lox to the nostalgic Reuben and Rachel sandwiches. Each dish showcases a commitment to quality ingredients and traditional preparation methods. The salmon is perfectly smoked, delivering a burst of flavor that’s hard to resist. It's a wonder that one customer referred to the scrapple as something they could "put in my pocket and take bites of through the day" — such is the allure of Knishes and Dishes!

If you crave a classic breakfast experience, the Smoked Salmon Benedict and Loaded Latkes are sure to satisfy, though opinions vary on their execution. While some find the latkes wonderfully hearty, others feel they could use a bit more crunch. Nevertheless, the fresh and flaky salmon garnished on top brings a nice complement to the dish. The eggs are perfectly poached, bringing an impeccable texture to each bite.

The value of the portion sizes cannot be overstated. Even at a slightly elevated price point, many customers note that a single meal can yield enough leftovers for another satisfying lunch or dinner. As one reviewer aptly put it, "if you are not feeding a teenager, you could probably get two meals with the leftovers." It's this ethos of abundance that makes dining at Knishes and Dishes a sufficiently filling affair.

However, not all reviews are glowing; service can occasionally be hit or miss, with some patrons experiencing delays in attention or refills. But, much like the food, the service tends to mirror a classic diner experience; warm and reliable at its best, albeit sometimes needing a nudge to keep the momentum going.

In conclusion, whether you're stopping by for a weekday breakfast with friends or seeking a quick meal to-go, Knishes and Dishes offers a culinary experience that feels both familiar and exciting. With delicious flavors, generous portions, and a friendly atmosphere, it’s clear that this establishment deserves a place on every food lover's must-visit list in Lafayette Hill!
